19.04.2010 Foreign minister official arrested for taking bribe

An important official within the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration was caught taking bribe. The chief of bilateral relationships department was arrested on April 15th by the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption agents.
According to prosecutors, the dignitary demanded 4.000 euro from a citizen to sign a document which would facilitate the opening of a center for promoting Moldovan trade in the United Arab Emirates.
CCCEC mentioned the money was transmitted to the official by one of his relatives, which was held on April 14th. A 15-day detention warrant has been issued for both suspects. They will be held in CCCEC’s penitentiary and prosecuted for passive corruption
