South Territorial General Department
The General Territorial Department of Cahul is also a structural territorial subdivision of the Center for Combating Economic Crimes and Corruption that is acting in compliance with the Center’s activity program and its own half-annual action plan, in collaboration with other subdivisions and public authorities.
According to the organizational Chart, the General Territorial Department of Cahul serves 5 districts in the Southern area of the country: Leova, Basarabeasca, Cantemir, Cahul and Taraclia.
By virtue of functional responsibilities, the Department’s staff is oriented towards the continuous improvement of professional mastery, implementation of new working methods, accumulation and analysis of information related to the specific characteristics of served territory in order to prevent and combat corruption and economic-financial crimes.
Among the activity results of the Department one may consider the discovery of a fraudulent scheme of money extortion from foreign citizens employed by a group of customs officers.
